A Cool Approach to Cooling Data Centers: Martin Schechtner, Founder and CIO CHILLMINE

Martin Schechtner’s calm and friendly demeanor invites one into a conversation that, very soon, explodes into brilliance. He’s deeply knowledgeable about the engineering aspects of what has become a topic of global significance- Data Centers. His critique of existing models soon gives way to an inspirational optimism about our ability to do what’s right for the environment all the while managing to satisfy the world’s voracious appetite for computing. Eight years ago, he translated this optimism into a company that produces a revolutionary cooling solution for data centers. Chip-agnostic, modular, and easy to start with, ChillMine is set to make a real contribution to the complex and growing world of Data Centers.

A Chemical Engineer by training, Schechtner, as with most entrepreneurs, is a multi-faceted leader. He is deeply technical but also understands the entire business model he is dealing with. His comportment is not that of a traditional sales executive, but in fact this holds him in good stead. He comes across as authentic, honest, and one who wants a long and sustainable relationship, not simply a transaction.
Shechtner is a polyglot- born and raised in Austria. He is interested in a variety of subjects- History, Sociology, Mathematics, and Science; this eclecticism comes across loudly in conversation, which can be deep and broad at once.
He’s a passionate person- when speaking about Data Center cooling or about his family. While his technical bona fides are exceptional, his approach is very much about problem-solving and Product-Market fit.

ChillMine currently has a footprint only in Europe but recent announcements indicate a rapid growth plan in North America, Africa, and South Asia. With tailwinds behind him, Schechtner is a person to watch as he helps the industry find the balance it needs to be sustainable.
